Child Safety

Hampshire & Surrey Blinds fully complies with the new child safety standards for internal blinds which were published by the British Standards Institution in February 2014.

Mandatory Requirements (BS EN 13120:2009+A1:2014)

• Installation of child-safe blinds to ALL HOMES whether children are present or not

• Limitations on cord and chain length

• Safety devices for preventing cords and chains from creating a hazardous loop and attached to either wall or window frame

• The fitting of safety devices on cords and chains at the point of manufacture

• The testing of all safety-critical components of internal window blinds

• The testing of complete blinds using safety devices

• Safety warnings and product instructions
  
  The new standards are applicable to all homes, all public buildings, and any other premises where young children aged 0-24 months are likely to have access or be present.
  
  There are no exceptions to this rule with Hampshire & Surrey Blinds. Your safety is our priority.
